Steps To Get Your First Driver’s License


We have all of the adult driver training requirements needed in order to get your first driver's license.

Are you under the age of 18 years old?

At 15.5 years old you can go to a Driver Exam Station to take the knowledge and vision screening to start the process of obtaining your Temporary Permit before getting your first driver's license.

Complete a driver education course at an approved school, which includes 24 hours of classroom or online instructions and 8 hours of driving time.


Complete 50 hours of behind the wheel driving, with a minimum of 10 hours of driving being at night.
Hold the TIPIC (temporary instruction permit identification card) for at least 6 months

Are you 18 years old or older?

If you are at least 18 years old and trying to get your first driver's license you are still required to obtain a Temporary Permit before getting a Graduated Driver License.
